This week marched the soft launch of Exrocker.Com, an idea that has been percolating in my mind for about 3 years now since I needed an easy to remember Myspace account name.
The basic concept is to create a forum for ex-rockstars, rockers who have been in bands, or part of the music scene, and have advanced somewhat in age and entered into a more family or corporate focused stage.
It's my hope to keep the passion that I felt when writing songs or performing alive and to share it with those that created, those that performed, and those fans that enjoyed the music.
The quick question I have heard (most recently from my wife) is why don't you just call it "rockers.com". The easy answer is "that domain was taken"... but, my more involved answer is that exrockers have a unique set of desires that is different than "currently rocking rockers", some of it is based on nostalgia, maybe a maturity level, and if we could tap into this huge base of music-lovers, possibly we could bring music back into our lives. For me, it is sorely lacking and this is one way to connect my passion for music, my love of IT, and connecting people.
Thanks for joining and sharing your music, memories and ... here's to celebrating the past and creating new memories in the future!
Peace out,
Matt Magne, Exrocker
